a cute story

Doug here narrating this blog entry (I've asked Daniel for his permission to post). I have a good story to tell you from this morning. Daniel has been learning the letters and numbers lately. Specifically, we know that he knows that his name begins with the letter "D". So as we were making pancakes this morning, Sylvia asked him to go and get "his" letter from his playroom floor, which has all of the letters and numbers.

He scurried off as only a three year old can and then quickly returned with the letter "D", which he placed at his own feet. Okay, good job. Next I asked him to go get the "M" for mama. After less than a minute of business in the room, he returned and proudly presented her with the "M".

Sylvia thought this was going quite well, so she asked him to go and get the "P" for papa. Again, no problem, he quickly returned from his room and happily handed me to the letter "P".

Sylvia next asked Danny to get the B for his bunny. Zip, away he went, but this time he returned empty handed. Hmm, maybe he's no future Nobel laureate after all.

Trying a different letter, she suggested that he get a "G" for his brother Gabriel. Pitter patter pitter patter, away went the little man but again he returned empty handed. Now comes the cute part. Keep reading to see the conclusion in part 2.
